Monday, July 05, 2010The last week in June, The Brussels Office organized a seminar on telecommunications for a group of Serbian government officials. The seminar included meetings with DG Information Society and Media, DG Competition, EDRI, the European Parliament as well as the Belgian Telecom Regulator (BIPT). The participants also attended lectures on EU decision-making and negotiations. The seminar is part of the project “Serbia and the EU – Preparing for EU Accession” which is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the first week of June The Brussels Office organized a seminar on consumer protection for a group of senior civil servants from Serbia. The seminar included meetings both with the Commission and the European Parliament, as well as with SOLVIT and BEUC. The participants also attended lectures on decision-making and lobbying in the European Union.

In April, The Brussels Office hosted a seminar on social affairs and the EU for a group of senior government officials from the Republic of Serbia. In addition to addressing social affairs through meetings with the European Commission and the European Disability Forum, the seminar also included a workshop on lobbying and decision making in the EU.

Seminar for the Hertie School of Governance

During the first week of May, The Brussels Office in cooperation with Jon Worth organized a workshop for a group of executive master students from the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin. The purpose of the workshop was to give the students a comprehensive view of the EU decision making process through a study of the Third Energy Package and the proposal for a Security of Supply Regulation. The workshop featured meeting with representatives from DG Energy, DG Relex and DG Internal Market, as well as lectures by Jon Worth and the Brussels Office staff.

The Brussels Office in Belgrade for EU seminar

From May 10 -15 the Brussels Office hosted a seminar on EU negotiations and lobbying for government officials in Belgrade. The seminar was part of the project “Serbia and the EU – preparing for EU accession”. The seminar included workshops on communication and presentation skills, and the participants took part in interactive workshops on lobbying and negotiations.
